DEPARTMENT OF “DO TELL" Our recently adjusted salary rates were all put into effect by July 29, and were reflected in the paychecks arriving on August 17. As a matter of interest, the increases averaged out to a little more than 8%. Of course, some employees received a little more, and some a little less. A number of jobs were reevaluated and placed into different grade levels as a result of the duties and responsibilities having changed. The overall increase in costs is in excess of $200,000.00 per year, resulting in an increased cost of operation of $1.65 per patient day. * * CREDIT UNION A GOOD POSSIBILITY - Last month's ''Bulletin” contained a questionnaire designed to learn if the employees of St. Joseph's were interested in forming a hospital Credit Union. As a result of the large number of replies, Mr., Hugh Wagner, Credit Manager, has scheduled an informational meeting to be held at 3:00 PM, on FRIDAY. AUGUST 24, in the Nurses' Home Auditorium. Mr. Emmett Sullivan, of the U„ S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, will speak on the organization and operation of a Credit Union. All interested employees are invited to attend. Please inform your supervisor ahead of time in order that coverage of your duties may be arranged.
