A MeUOQe to jf_gM j*om tUe AdmUiUUaioJi Dear Personnel: During the months of March, April and May, I should like to concentrate on improving communications and follow-through on all levels. As we grow larger, each one of us has to work harder to be sure we do keep the personal touch and a real warmth that is evident to our patients and to each other. Since patients are involved in all our communication, I have appointed some committees to help us study and decide the best ways to improve our methods. These committees will be concerned with the following questions: How can the Directors of the Departments improve communications with the Administrator? How can the Hospital improve communications with Doctors? How can the Directors of Departments improve communications with each other? ( How can the Directors of the Departments improve communications with personnel? How can the Hospital improve communications with the Public and the Press? I should like these committees to meet during March, and by April 2 have some very concrete, specific, workable recommendations on how to improve communications so we keep our hospital on the top. I cannot stress to you enough that the greatest problem in hospitals today is that the hospitals are misunderstood by the public, and it takes all our personnel and all our efforts to get the "true story of Hospitals" across. We must change the bad ideas people have of us and replace them with the good ideas of what we are really doing. This is a difficult job and will take a lot of thought. Would all of you give a little thought to what questions you are most frequently asked by patients? These can be questions about the hospital or about medicine or any question that you are most frequently asked by patients. If you can just remember to jot these down and drop them in the Suggestion Box or give them to a member of the Committees when the Committees are published, it will help us in determining what it is that patients want most to know about the hospital. It will cost between $4500 and $5000 to demolish the houses across the street on Franklin, but we will be starting the process soon in order to have more parking. I still do not have a date on when the underground parking will be turned over to us. We are glad that our personnel will have the opportunity to attend a Mass in the Chapel at 4:00 o'clock every day during Lent, and hope that you will be able to take advantage of this. Be assured that the Sisters will be especially remembering you in their prayers during the Lenten Season. May you all have a Blessed and profitable Lent. Sincerely yours, I - Sister Mary Andrew
