Many thanks to Dr. Gifford for rescuing one of our fish�it had a rubber band around its neck! 4-Center� 3-11 warmly welcomes our new nurse aides, Joan Beyer and Barbara Harris. 7-3 and 3-11 welcomes our new R.N., Barb Michel. 6-South-John Schick, our 3-11 orderly, returned from vacation in Las Vegas, saying he had a smashingly good time. We welcome Kathy Holtmeier who transferred from ICU last month, and Elaine Flak who joined us this month� we are very happy to have both of them. 8-North� Georgia Bass spent her vacation in Ohio; Elva White spent a fun week in Las Vegas; Melanie Cisneros went camping on her vacation; Edie Weust motored to Indiana for her three-week vacation. Jackie Arries, L.P.N., started her last year in Nursing School at Community College North. We welcome Sister Mary Phyllis, N.A., from 5-North; and Marcia Ford from 7-South. 9-South�misses Madlene Montoya who is vacationing in New Jersey this month. N. Dupre and D. Finley have really been making good use of their time off�they toured Craig Rehab. Center to further their knowledge of paraplegic care; and they observed a pyeloplasty performed by Dr. Urwiller at SJH. We feel very sad to lose our housekeeping aide, Bertha Aguirre, and wish her the best of luck in her new job in Central Supply. We congratulate Dr. Hattel on his marriage, and thank him for all his help to us in 9-South. Squash Squash! WEDDINGS AND ENGAGEMENTS . . . Our best wishes to the following employees: Straight Surgery Intern, Nick Hattel, who went the "rice-and- old-shoes" way with Linda McQueen in Boulder on October 26�Nick's bride is presently a nursing student at Colorado General�best of luck to you both; Kathy Aranda, Food Service, on her marriage on September 28; Jane Goertemiller, Lab, on her marriage to David Ruger; Leslie Newman-Clark, OPD, the new Mrs. Bill Cooper; Carol Ann Pawling, Surgery, on her marriage to Douglas Paul Allen- planned for November 22. t BIRTHS. . . Dr. and Mrs. Richard Shulten presented son, Christopher, 21/2, with a new baby sister, Amy, on October 4. Congratulations to Dr. Orsini, Pathology Resident, on the birth of his baby daughter. Congrat- ulations also to John and Joan Schabron on their new baby boy�OPD says, "See John, we didn't forget you." Much happiness also to Mrs. Sandra Murray, R.N., on the birth of her baby girl; and to Mrs. Kay Rice, Surgery, on the birth of baby boy, Joseph Donald. *P It was bound to happen sooner or later. You talk nice to your plants, take good care of them so they'll grow big and strong, and then they turn on you! Ask Ken Scott who grew these huge zucchini (yes, they really are) squash.
