The new cooling tower, on the left, has been completed, to help eject all the heat
generated by air conditioning throughout the Hospital. Three thousand gallons
of water flow through each tower per minute, and a fan blowing on the water
cools it. Each tower is filled with ceramic tiles, and holds 7,200 gallons of water.
Candy Striper supervisor Sister Elizabeth Ann, left, and everyone who knows
Nancy Johns, right, is proud these days, with good reason. Nancy, who has
accumulated 1,000 hours as a Candy Striper, was named state party chairman
and pro tern of the senate at Girl's State in Colorado, then was one of two girls
chosen from Colorado to represent the state at the national gathering in
Washington, D.C. There, she narrowly missed being voted vice-president, by
only several votes. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Johns and will be a
senior at Central Catholic High School. She also was named Miss Candy
Striper, 1977, by a vote of her fellow volunteers here. Another Candy Striper,
Lori Rael, was also honored with being chosen to attend Girl's State in
Colorado.
A worker helps lift a piece of pre-
cast, which will be placed between
the windows on the third and fourth
floors.
