? Attending staff, residents and interns showed up at the farewell coffee held last month to honor residents who have completed their training at Saint Joseph Hospital. Dr. Walter Briney, left, chats with Steve Blatt, M.D., second from left, who has completed his training in Radiology; Internal Medicine resident Don Jenny, M.D., who displays the statue awarded to him as best intern, and Michael Jacobson, M.D. and Tom Jenkins, M.D., who have both completed their residencies in Internal Medicine. In addition to the best intern award given this year, Judy Jordan, M.D., was chosen as best resident, and the following attending physicians were given best teaching awards: Marvin S. Liggett, M.D., Internal Medicine; Robert O. Linder, M.D., Ob-Gyn; and R.C.A. Weatherley-White, M.D., Surgery. Thanks "I want to thank you all for the wonderful care Frank received while he was a patient at St. Joseph. You have a wonderful staff of doctors and nurses. When you are in a large city hospital, you wonder if people really care or if you are just a number, but at St. Joseph you are not a number, but a person who all are working hard to make well again. With the love, understanding and care you re- ceive, you all make people forget and want to love. Not only did you all care and love Frank, but you helped us in so many ways letting us be with Frank in I.C.U. (even though that was not the rule), bringing me a blanket when I stayed at night with Frank, the cups of coffee in the morning when I was tired, helping make arrangements for Frank to fly home, and the visits of the Father and Sisters who gave us much needed support. I was also surprised at how the doctors took so much time with Frank. They were never too busy to answer his questions and believe me he asked many. Also, they were so kind and concerned about us. We will always be grateful. We will never be able to thank all of you enough." When Candy Striper Debbie Zook was given a scholarship by St. Mary's College to attend school there, Sister Mary Andrew made the presentation during the honors con- vocation at Hinkley High School. Lose Your Cool? Opening windows is definitely the way to do it. When you begin feel- ing too warm, please call 7070 (Plant Engineering) instead of open- ing the window. Fifteen hundred tons of air conditioning is manufac- tured per hour to help you keep your cool, and opening windows only lets this cool air escape, allow- ing the hot air in. Please keep windows closed! McHugh Named Assistant Director Rich McHugh took over last month as Assistant Director of Nursing, Non-Clinical. He has been at Saint Joseph Hospital for three years, in the Surgery Department.
