Library & Archives 7 SAINT JOSEPH HOSPITAL � DENVER, COLORADO VOLUME 18, NUMBER 13 � SEPTEMBER 15, 1905 Race for the Cure Sunday, October 1, 1995 8:30 a.m. Civic Center Park SK Run/Walk The Breast Health Task Force at Saint Joseph Hospital is forming a team for the "Race for the Cure." SJH is one of several sponsors for the event and would like to invite employee participation. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation provides that 75 percent of the net proceeds are used to support local programs, and the remaining 25 percent will fund the National Grant Program. Please contact The Women's Pavilion at 866-8600 to join the Saint Joseph Hospital team and for further information. Annual Infection Control Poster Contest Sister Marianna Named Businesswoman of the Year Sister Marianna Bauder was recently named Businesswoman of the Year by the Denver Business Journal's Who's Who in Denver Business Your department or nursing unit could be the one to design the poster that is selected as Saint Joseph Hospital's official Infection Control theme poster for 1995-96. Entries must be received no later than Monday, October 2, 1995, in the Quality Management Office, first floor, Laboratory corridor. All posters to be considered must meet the following specifications: Theme: Proper Sharps Disposal Colors: Black and white only (for duplication purposes, no colors please) Size: ll"xl7" Number of Entries: Limited to one from each nursing unit or department. Poster board available in the Quality Management Office, but limited to one sheet per department or nursing unit. Judging will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, in Assembly Room I, and posters will be on display from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The winning department or nursing unit will receive a prize. The winning entry will be duplicated and displayed throughout the Hospital. Posters can be picked up in the Quality Management Office after the contest. Saint Joseph Hospital Birthday Celebration create your-own Thursday, September 21 Midnight (Wednesday) to 1:00 a.m. (Thursday) Assembly Room 1 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tower Cafe 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tower Cafe Gateway Update Order entry development continues on two tracks. The "front- end" begins with the order process and culminates with communica- tion (requisitions, automatic pages, etc.) of the orders to the ancillary departments. The "back-end" begins with the receipt of the order, progresses through various order status changes, technolo- gist assignments and culminates with the posting of a completion notice or the result/ finding. The front- end functions are completely developed and tested, with only minor modifications yet to come. The back-end, however, is still in a development mode. Testing of these functions is expected to begin by mid-September with pilot use on 9 North by January 1996. Physician screen views and printed reports are the next priority. Work has already started on the next two major tracks, which include the first phase of interven- tion documentation and the critical care track. Phase one of intervention documentation entails med-surg admission and on-going assessment. This application will be piloted on the 8th floor. Longterm Employee Dinner, October 14 Each year Saint Joseph Hospital recognizes employees for their dedication and years of service to the Hospital. If you are celebrating a 5-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25-, 30-, 35-, 40-, or 45-year anniver- sary with the Hospital during 1995, save the date and plan to attend the Longterm Employee Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center, Saturday, October 14. Invitations will be mailed in late September. If you do not receive an invitation by October 5 and believe you are eligible to attend, call Julie Goodwin in Human Resources, extension 6637.
