Graduate Medical Education

This website portrays the history of Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado, beginning in 1873 to the present.   Digitizing the archival collection was made possible by a generous gift from the family of Roger & Chris Goodwin.  Roger A. Goodwin was the president and CEO of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation from 1988 - 2003.  His vision for the Foundation allowed it to grow exponentially during his tenure.

Roger and his wife Chris shared a commitment to the mission of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and Saint Joseph Hospital.

Many items in the Archives’ online special collections are in the public domain and are not subject to copyright protection. However, the nature of historical, archival and manuscript collections often makes it difficult to determine the exact copyright status of an item. Thus, some of the materials provided here online are made available under an assertion of fair use (17 U.S.C. 107).

Whenever possible, Saint Joseph Archives provides all known information about copyright owners and other restrictions in the information, or metadata, associated with digital items or collections. The Archives provide this information to assist users in determining the copyright status of an item. Ultimately, however, it is the user's responsibility to use material according to the terms governing its use.

The written permission of any copyright owners, and/or any other rights holders, may be required for distribution, reproduction, or other use of protected items that extends beyond fair use or other statutory exemptions. Responsibility for making an independent legal assessment and independently securing any necessary permissions ultimately rests with persons desiring to use particular items in the context of the intended use.

WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs making photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of the conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction will not be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
